2. To learn & finish all sign languages courses.
3. To excel at work.
4. Take up kick boxing or related exercise later half of the yr with my cousin
5. Learn swimming & cycling from June onwards..
6. To go for Holiday @ nearby countries with friends..
Shall add on if i plan to do anything new...
Last sat met up with Sotong family to have our yearly steamboat @ Auntie Mary house, arrived there late as i went to the office in the morning..upon reaching Senja LRT station, walked for almost 10 mins and couldn't find the block and decided to board a cab instead.. and guess what, the cab driver told me that the block is just 5 mins walk, ''-_-.. neverthless he drove me outside the block and i paid $2.80.. a nice cab uncle i must say cause the actual meter costs was $3plus.. and which cab uncle would bother about to drive a customer in which he could earn minimum amount from the boarding fees.
On reaching, the rest have already begun eating..wanted to post the food pictures but i only realised i plan to take photos of the untouched food until i have finish eating.. food is just such a temptation..
Auntie Mary as usual was so hospitable, continously topping up our soup and drinks.. and we have our much belated christmas gift exchange.. i Received from Maggie a Forever Friend Accessories Box, Vivien got a massenger, Mei Qi received a USB-port Aromatheraphy, Maggie-a pair of weekend tickets @ Cathay-a gift that i bought. We shared and bought a box of Bird Nest and 2 bottle of wines for Auntie Mary.
*absence in family: Shirley.. (P/s: gal if u read this post, maggie got for you a gift, it's with Auntie Mary)
We chatted and watch Tv @ her house till 5 plus 6.. and during this time as we plan to travel down to Brewkz to have our dinner and drink, we decide to jio some khakis along.. but only to be disappointed by Kent and Desmond..in which they owe us a treats.. next outing, drink is on u guys..
Before making our way down, we stop @ a pub along somerset by the name of No.5.. quite a good ambience pub with 2 storeys..a recommended place to hang out with friends.. planned to have my birthday celebration over there.
Final destination of Sat Night: Brewkz.. Quite a spacious place, Main courses and deserts was delicious.. their own brewed beer was nice, though i only drink a few sips due to don wish to drink too much.. thanks to Mei Qi with her staff discount of 50%, the meal was affordable..a good place to dine and drink with friends too..
Summary: It was a great day of laughter, hanging out, eating and drinking with them.. *5 star of enjoyment.

It's back to studying again after resting for half a year..
And everything oh well was messy & as usual i was a Blur Sotong..
Firstly, on realising i have not collected my textbook, i called up the school as to where is the venue i should collect from.
At around 6pm, watching as time pass by, i was basically rushing my work finish, pass by Grill & Amalfi to pass the relevant documents and rushing off in a panic as the supposedly collection point is SAA new City Campus located at Raffles Place beside Lau Pa Sat.. imagine the distance i have to walk.. i was panting like no body business on reaching... only to realise... the textbook are not available and all i need for my lessons are notes that would be distributed @ the lecture.
Thus, i have to take another bus to Tanjong Pagar @ Capital Tower for the lessons.. As it was my first place reaching there, i was kind of lost & unsure of bus to take and on boarding, all i bothered to ask was wherether it is the correct bus and somehow i walk towards the passenger seat and imagine my embrassement when the uncle ask me to Tap my EZ link.. sigh..
After walking & being lost for around 45 mins, i finally found the place.. Phew..
Conclusion: Almost fell asleep during the lesson 7 many atimes feel tempted to put my legs on the head of the seat in front due to the comfortness of sitting in a sofa..lecturer initially was boring but near towards the end, the illustration he gives get more & more interesting and overall give a clear understanding of taxation...
So it's gonna be studying all the way till May every Tuesday & Thursday..
Looking forward to tomorrow gathering with my Sotongs and going over to Mei Qi workplace to eat again in the evening and meeting Serene next Wed and meeting my group of close frens frm my prev cg next Sat evening..
Gonna update over here my resolutions for 2008 and the above events.
Sometimes it's so much better to have a simple life..
I detest the way i am @ work, having to be aggressive & demanding to get things done..
being too soft & innocent will only makes things worse..
Student life is still the best...

"We humans always feel that the grass is greener on the other side, some regret in leaving the former. If u belong to the category, would you return back to the former, chose to stay or move on to a new side of "grass".
So much have been happening over at my work place. Learnt on Sunday among the part-timers that a group of them plan to quit soon. Have a chat with them and below were their reasons for leaving:
1. Pay is low, elsewhere is paying much better
2.Tips is pathetic, elsewhere gets daily tips
3.lack of staff makes them do double job
4.Most chose not to do closing leaving them only to do everything.
5.Staff Meal is lousy, always the same food everyday.
Sometimes hanging out with them makes me feel that they still have a long way to go. I am not trying to prove anything though.
Example:"Aiyah, we all leave already, lotus can close down".
Somehow i couldn't be a listener and basically do nothing about it, true, i agree that my current workplace exists a lot of problems.
At times, i do wish i can be like them, not happy then move on to a new place.
For one,i am a full time working adult and my responsibility is there and it would make me a job-hopper making my dream drift further apart.
I am not against those who left and who plan to leave. For indeed to some,it's better for them to move on in order to have a better future. Just like Lao San, i was so happy for her that she move on from Lotus to another new work place that pay higher and much much better benefits. Staying at Lotus would only be a waste of her youth and knowledge.
At the end of the day,it's the attitude and purpose of leaving.
Have a chat with Sam Yesterday and informed him all that i know..and truely from the conversation we had, i could only conclude he indeed is a man of wisdom and experiences. Such talk is what i would call Quality conversations.
He went on to mention that the purpose of not rising certain staff pay is due to their attitude of work and for some, the schedule per week is pathetic.
It's a Principle of Give & Take. They want higher salary, they have to prove they are worth the price. A certain staff can work for years but what he can give is one day per week and whenever there are short of staff, he never stayed to help. Is such a staff worth the pay rise then?
It's true that certain staff can work and have good attitudes, but back to the same question, if all they can give is 2 days per week and can't help out when the restaurant needs them and have a habit of cancelling schedule last min.
Everyone for himself is the centre of this problem. They have their own definition of working hard and exhausted due to work and if everyone with this defintion use it to ask for pay rise, there be no end to it. Afterall, we are all but just a small scale operation in comparison to the other place. There's a limit to which we could pay.
The above 3 paragraphs are a summary of what Sam mentioned which indeed is true. He valued the staff and if possible, he don't wish to lose them either. But there's a limit to what he can give.
Even if he did provide the requests, other problems rise too, the other restaurant staff reaction upon hearing pay rise..
We went on to discuss on other issues such as Tips and Staff meal and etc and etc..Issues arises with each new topic.
It's rather tough to be a Restaurant Manager, though i may not 100% agree with his reply but when an answer is logical what can one says.
At the end of the day, we can either chose to take it or leave it.
I could blog all these out is because he told me to pass down the message to the rest of the part-timers. I would try, however, if they are rather stubborn or refuse to listen, i can't do anything either.
Conclusion is: It's true this restaurants has it own faults and on one look, the disadvantages outweights the advantages. There are better restaurants out there who indeed have better benefits and Management..i do agree.. i am rather neutral..afterall i don plan to stay in this restaurant and only upon the below situation would i step out of Lotus permanently:
1. Lotus Grill due to the new reservior is resized to a smaller scale, without any Tongkangs.
2. When i feel i have no more room for improvement and that i have grown to my comfort zone.Mininmum: 1 year.
There are no perfect workplace just like this world,it's not perfect. It's how we make the best out of what we have.
Other then work, things are working rather well, esp with my walk with God.
Congrats to Royston who just msg me that he got his driving licence, indeed things are getting better and better on his side, from getting his desired course to getting attached to getting what he plan to achieve..i know he is moving from glory to glory..afterall he deserves it, this path of life was not easy for him..neverthless with a great attitude,he's positive and grew stronger. Looking back, this friend of mine change a lot, and definently it means for the better and wiser..
This good friend has always been my source of inspiration, i shall not lose out to him either.

How Interesting.. In summary, it's like the English Version of our Chinese 7th Month.
Tonight esp at Clarke Quay, things are gonna get fun.. passerbys are dressing up:

It's one of those occassions whereby Singaporeans shed off their boring image.
Restaurants and clubs are highlighting the event.
Just passed by MOS and they have decorated the building to a Ghost House:
Too bad, i am using a lousy phone with a lousy Camera.. if not i would be taking pictures of it and upload it here.
Hooters is not losing out either:
Though it seems funny somehow.
TCC is not losing out either:

Been hooked onto Facebook these past few days.. Got to know of this thru my cousin, sabrina.
http://www.facebook.com/
when i first logged in, i was thinking it's just another friendster or a place where u post your pictures and etc.
But as i surft through and realised it's more then boring.. it's simply the opposite.
So for those who have yet to have a face book account, do join it, it's something you can do when you are bored.
Met up with my sotong family on Sat with the exeception of Shirley who's busy with her FYP and school stuffs..
Intitially Vivien suggested in having steamboat but steamboat for lunch would make our nose bled and by the suggestion of Mei qi we decide to settle down for Kenny Rogers.
Mei qi then show us all the pictures they took over in Japan.. the most beautiful one, i feel are those taken in Disneyland and i screamed in excitement upon the Stores where they took pictures of Pooh and of the Pooh bear adventure ride and their Popcones box have pooh's Honey container.
Sounding like a little Kid over here..
Upon finishing our lunch, we were told to give her and Maggie $0.20 each, not knowing the reason and wanting to end the mystery, we gave.
It was for the purpose of "buying" our gifts.. as we receive a Cartoon Character clocks..
I got a Pooh Bear clock, something that i always wanted and a sealed coin box.. I joked that i wanted to place the clock at office.. and when my Boss return from his Paternity leave, he would be too shock to react to see that i have turn the office into a mini Pooh house..keke.
Vivien received a Pooh alarm clock and as for Shirley..i am saying it out till she received hers from Auntie Mary.
Once again, Auntie Mary pad for the bill when it was supposed to be a treat by also Vivien and me.. We owe her a big treat. given that out of 5 gatherings, she had treated us up to 3-4 times.
Went Grill to work after that.
saving up to join Mei Qi & Maggie to go Japan next year..
On sunday, after church service. Went with cg to have lunch at Changi Airport after which went to have dessert at Swensen, the 6 of us -> all ladies at one table have a great chat for 3 hours and more.
The topic ranges from A to Z in which we chatted about facebook and motherhood the most. Yup, my cg consists of mostly married couples..i got exicted on the mention of facebook and became a listener on the latter topic.
All are yet mothers but planning to be one.. we were discussing about who would be the stern mother and how to disclipline well the kids given that the current society tend to over dote their children till they have lose all manners by being a nuisance in public and to kick and hit their own parents.
I always feel kids that kick up a tantrum in public or being over hyper-active deserves a whacking up.. sometimes i feel tempted to slap kids that run all over and scream at the top of their voice at Grill.
okay.. i sounds violent. but i firmly believe in : spare the rod and u spoilt the child.
Guess i would be a stern mum in the future?
Read up her blog only to realised you both had met up. It's none of my business i know. . it's just that it make me realised what a fool i been. Guess i have been out of your mind since..
i should not have hope to meet you againz coz i know it will never come to pass.

There's this chinese saying of people who have nothing better to do on saterday afternoon:Chi Bao Fan,Mei Shi Zhuo.
The reason i am typing all these is due to the following conversation i had a while ago:
Me: Hi good afternoon Lotus Group.
Pest A: Hi good afternoon, is this the office for Amalfi the Pizza Place restaurant.
Me: Yes.
Pest A: I would like to book a reservation at 4pm later. I call the outlet and no one pick up.
Me: The outlet operates from 3pm onwards. How may i assists u?
Pest A: Ok. My 10% voucher(Lotus group voucher) is out of shape,(tt's what i heard at first).
Me: Oh okay. You still can use the voucher as long as the print out have our restaurant Name.
Pest A: No. I mean my printer is down. I can't print out the voucher.
Me: Oh, i am so sorry. In that case, you can come down another day when u have the voucher printed out.
Pest A: No i want to dine today..and i want the discount(he didn't say tt literally but his words meant it)
Me: I understand. But it's our Company Policy to give discount upon the voucher.
Pest A: But i can't print it out. What is your name and your position in the company.
Me: Cindy here. I do not wish to drift away from the topic. Do you have any American Express or Citi Bank Credit Card? With these cards you can have an 15% discount without using the voucher.
Pest A: Oh..(Pauses) But i don't want to use my credit card. I want to pay in Cash. In that case, u all are losing a customer of lunch at $150 and i won't frequent your restaurant.
Me: (in mind:"BigDeal!as if yr $150 is a lot") I am sorry but we have to follow our Company Policy.
Pest A: Let me tell you. If i were your boss, i would tell the outlet manager that there would be a customer by the name of so & so, he can't print out his voucher, can u give him 10% discount?"
Me: Everyone handle things differently.
Pest A: Alright. Let me tell you i am NOT going to your restaurant(he repeats this line more then once throughout the conversation). Thank you Cindyand have a good day, and i would e-mail this to your boss.
He then hang up the phone.
Darnz.. what a irritating person. Don't he have better things to do on a Saterday afternoon?!He don have a date then go and sleep or watch Tv la, what for make a silly call and talk all sort of nounsense and to write an e-mail to complain. The Lamest answer of his is to tell me he don't want the credit card discount of 15% and instead want to pay in cash with the voucher 10% discount. and what is 10% off to his $150 dinner? It's just a deduction of $15?!!
If i were to analyse this out. If he is willing to spend a 3 digit figure on a lunch/dinner, that means he is either the average guy who either struck lottery or got a pay rise. If not, his income would be more then any average person..just with a certain fact that he would carry cash of $150 & above in his wallet.
And if he belongs to the latter, why on earth is he making a big fuss over a $15 deduction?! Being the theory that the rich tends to be more of a Miser?
Secondly, i don believe he is going to dine alone in the first place..eating $150 worth of Pizzas and pastas would make any average Joe vomit?! If he is not dining alone, can't he ask his friend or gf to help print out the voucher instead?! Unless there is SUch a coincidence that his surrounding friends have their printer down too simply because they bought it together at a fair...
If he has the brains to argue it out with me,can't he have any other alternatives?! He doesn't seems to be a dumb fellow given that his english is rather good not broken.
Some people are just so stubborn & ridiculous. If i were to say yes from the start and do what he says a boss would usually do and to truely believe that his printer was spoilt or take pity because he so desperately wants to dine at Amalfi, wouldn't that make me a fool?!
Some people are just so full of themselves that they never put themselves in others shoes. Would he have say Yes if tt Pest was in my shoes?!
Basically under the following situations, would i have agree to a 10% discount without a voucher:
1. He bring his spoilt printer down to Amalfi.
2. He's a nice guy who sounds he's pleading with me for the discount.
3. He decides to write an e-mail to me,taking a picture of his spoilt printer and writing a 10,000 words essay as to why he really need the 10% discount.
4. He cries over the phone when i say No.
5. for once,seriously.. He is a foreigner who just came Singapore, heard about our Restaurant but have no chance to obtain a Printer but saw the discount while he was surfing in his Hotel. In such a case, i would ask him to come down to Amafi and pass him our 10% discount card to him personally.
Alrightz.. got to get back to work once againz and awaits as to see what's going to happen on Monday and instead of being afriad that boss would scold me off i am rather eager to see the e-mail he writes and how ridiculous would that e-mail be.
A good laugh on a Monday morning would be good to get rid of the Bluey Monday... keke.

Just got confirmed and Praise God that upon confirmation there's an increase in my salary.. neverthless, will still continue to work in Grill.
Hmm.. work has become sort of a routine, my designation still doesn't fit my work load which is rather frustrating.
Have been asking the accountant to teach me to use the accounting software but to no avail..her time are precious and thus no time to waste to teach me.. =(
Guess this should have happened since she is a freelance accountant and she just come in as and when to finish her own work and afterwhich moves on to other companies.
Could only hope and wish my persistence to learn will make her give in soonz.
Yesterday was a rather sian day..
In the Employment contract, one of the benefits state that lunch will be provided however problems seems to arise due to it.
A certain manager of the outlet had complained that the office people are having a full set meal-
consists of Salad to Main meal to desert. It was only Colleague A have salad for lunch and me having Spagetti and our desert which is one scoop of ice-cream which we have once in long while.
To tt Manager, such a lunch is increasing cost for the company..
Which is simply a misconception.
what a retarded comment and decision..how much can he save just by cooking one less spaghetti per day!! and plus he himself is spending on unnecessary stuffs.
sighz.. to make it worse.
We were asked to have our lunch at another outlet which is Asian cusines.. The first few days were alright until i learnt from one of the chef that the main chef had asked him not to cook anything from the Menu for us, we just have to eat whatever they cook. sighz.. Not as if we would have request for any lobster or crabz..Grr..
It was really frustrating..
Sighz.. humans are self-centred. They only care about their ownself and do anything to make the boss like them and basically make decisions without thinking of others.
Phewz...
End of complain..
Any more complaining will make me old and angry for no reason and can't change anything.
Meanwhile, just gonna have my lunch back at the first outlet having their staff meal.
Gonna get back to work and i have no worries to post this out since no names were mentioned and plus my offical working hour is 4 hours.. 2pm to 6pm..
Which employee doesn't want to feel appreciated.

Inspiring Man of God
To my cg members who are reading this, the reason i was so quiet at lunch is because i was basically self-reflecting and thinking back of today's message.
The Preacher that preach today is Nick Vujicic, a man born without limbs. When the video was shown of his young time and how he live his life.. i was moved to tears. In the video, despite his disabilities, he swims, do fishing, play golf and ride horses.
When he appeared on stage just now, i was amazed. Here is a man who appeared on stage with the brightest smile..
He is simply so independent and unlike many others getting so upset by our limitation and weakness.. he can even make jokes out of his disabilities.
He went on to share on about his life story.. how he faced harsh critism and people making fun of him..he had went to a mainstream school to study, one can imagine the stares he faces studying with all the normal students.
Like any ordinary humans, he was once depressed and had a constant struggle of questioning God..
I once too..had many questions to ask God..
y was i born in this family?
y can't he create me pretty?
y am i still single?
y do i have to go thru so many bad times and circumstances?
does anyone know & understand what i feel and been thru?
and many many more..
There was even this thought to end my life straight away before..
When he say he understand all these depressing thoughts and questions we ask ourselves. i am convinced he does.
After seeing him, seriously i have no more questions to ask God..
But here are some questions that have an answer:
Can anyone stand strong despite falling down countless times?
Can anyone still smile and constantly thank God for all things even when everything goes wrong?
Can anyone be confident when he feel that he is the odd one out in the crowd?
Can anyone live life to the fullest when u feel so limited?
Can anyone love his or her life and herself if she can't change her bad circumstances?
Can anyone be a motivation to the people?
Before i meet him, i guess my answer is maybe..
but after meeting him.. the answer is a definite Yes!
Cause Nick has been there, done that..
He is my hero.. he thank God that with his disabilities he is a living miracle to give hope to others that life is worth living no matter what happen.
His Testimony shows to christian that God is real and has the best Plans for us.
I am convicted of my never ending complain about my disstisfaction of my life.. instead of complaining of what i don't have.
I learnt i got to be thankful to what i have right now.
the next time i get upset about myself, he is my inspiration to be strong again.
Pictures speaks louder then words.. i have posted some videos about this inspiring man.
One really got to live Life to the fullest..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DxlJWJ_WfA
I cried watching the first video.. i have to repeat that he is really independent and strong.. he doesn't believe his disabilities short change him of being able to do things that normal people do.
Now Try putting yourself in his shoes...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LtCrlXdd2E
the second video narrates of how his parents reacted when he was born & the questions he asked..
he indeed is a inspiring man..
